Your app's address
Every app gets an address like my-app.wattlecloud.app, with HTTPS.
Your own domain
- In the app's Domains tab, add the domain, then add the two records it shows at your DNS provider: a TXT record that proves it's yours, and a CNAME to
cname.wattlecloud.com. - The certificate is issued for you, usually within a few minutes of the records being found.
- A root domain such as
example.comneeds CNAME flattening or an ALIAS record at your DNS provider. Cloudflare DNS does this by itself.
Private networking
The services in an environment share a private network and find each other by name: web.internal, postgres.internal. Other environments and other customers can't reach them.
Limits
- Requests come through Cloudflare. A request body can be up to 100 MB, and a response must start within 100 seconds, or Cloudflare answers 524. Put long jobs in a worker or cron job.
- Cloudflare's terms don't allow serving video or other large files through it on our plans. Use a video host or object storage for those.
- WebSockets work.
- Outbound email on port 25 is blocked. Send email through a provider's API or port 587.
- Apps run in a sandbox without raw sockets, so ping-style checks (for example Uptime Kuma's ping monitor) don't work. HTTP and TCP checks do.
- Each environment can send up to 20 Mbit/s to the internet. Traffic to your visitors through the edge isn't counted.
